Clear Out the Old to Make Room for Your Life to Grow
I spoke of spring cleaning in class this week. We think of spring cleaning our home, but don’t always think about the things we are holding in our body, mind & emotions that we might need to purge as well. Spring is a time of new possibilities & growth, but if we don’t let go of things that are holding us back, the growth with be hard to do if not impossible. As we add new things into our life, like a daily practice, if we haven’t made space, even this thing that is good for us, can feel it’s making us stressed but making us feel we don’t have enough time. I have used the Spring Cleaning Meditation below, as a way to find out what are we holding onto that is not needed. When we let it go, we can feel a sense of ease & space that can allow our seeds of intention we are planting the ability to grow & even to thrive.
I hope with the Easter long weekend, you are able to find a bit of room for yourself in the midst of your plans around the holidays. It is learning to find these moments to be with yourself that will help you to know what is working in your life & what is not. It’s in these moments of stillness that you will begin to see what is cluttering your life & when we start clearing out what we’ve outgrown, don’t need or that hinder us, we can feel that fresh breath of spring fill us up. This new found space will give us the energy to move forward more unhindered.
If you would like to take some time to learn how to become more flexible & grow into your true potential, join me for some yoga, dinner & spa time Friday, Apr 28 5-9pm in Cochrane. Space is limited to 12 people, so don’t hesitate, if this Mini-Retreat resonates with you. Contact me directly & get your spot saved. I would love to share this time with you, as we take some time nurture ourselves.
Spring Cleaning Meditation
- Exhale old, stale energy. Breath in a fresh breath of spring.
- Exhale mental clutter. Breathe in clarity.
- Exhale emotional disarray. Breathe in calm.
- Exhale that which stands in your way of the life you want. Breathe in new possibilities.
As your lungs fill with fresh air, exhale tension & stress, and feel yourself coming into a state of
relaxation where your heart, mind & spirit are aligned.
From this place, there is no conflict or worry.
You know that letting go of things you are attached to is sometimes the best thing you can do to
free your heart for love, you body for healing, your mind for wisdom, and you spirit to soar.
As you clear your space for a new life, it’s time to recognize the key to transforming your life….it
could be the same key that opens your front door.
See yourself at the door to your home.
Step in….it is filed with sunshine and brightness….and a sense of hope.
Feel your heart and spirit lift as you walk through the door.
There is a special pair of glasses waiting for you, and when you put them on you can see clearly
through your spiritual eyes.
Use those glasses to know what items in your home and life support your journey toward healing
and which are holding you back.
Recognizing these items is the first step to clearing stale, or negative energy from you space.
Now breathe in the sunshine and fresh air…as you scan the room….and allow your spiritual eyes
to focus on an item that is calling for your attention.
As you identify it, ask yourself:
- What does this mean to me?
- How does it make me feel when I look at it?
- Is it holding me to my past, my pain, my trauma?
If yes, then step up to the item and hold it in your hand and
- Thank it
- Bless it
- Prepare yourself to let it go
There is a beautiful box in the center of the room. It’s surrounded by a halo of yellow sunshine.
The inside is lined with healing, welcoming green color (the color of the heart chakra).
It is a special box for items you know you must release.
Take the item, big or small, and place it in the box.
How do you feel once you have let it go?
- Liberated and free?
- Sad but relieved?
- Remorseful? You may not be ready to let it go. It’s okay to put it back in it’s place. Even
things that don’t serve us are hard to let go, as we have become attached.
BUT, if you are ready, walk over to the box, close the lid, and as you do….feel a fresh breath of
spring rushing all around you. Cleansing you and setting your free.
Feel the warmth of the sun streaming in from the open window.
Congratulate yourself for your willingness to move on. Take a deep breath, and let it out with a
sigh of relief.
Do this exercise over and over again,, with any items in your home, or life, that calls to you for
your attention.
They each have stories to tell about your life….and carry energy that may not be right for the
new life you have chosen.
Remember, you can invite in a fresh breath of spring to help you along….any time of year.
