How to Restore Yourself

Restoration:

the action of returning something to a former owner, place, or condition.

Would you like to be restored back to the self you were in your 20”s? Well, just do yoga 2x /day for the low cost of $99.99…. we get sold this idea everyday, if we do something enough & pay the right price we can get what we want. But do you really want to be 20 again with all it’s angst & struggles? Is that realistic? That would be a miracle, however, it is possible to restore ourselves back to the best version of ourselves right now.

Through our yoga practice, we can honour the things we’ve been through that have brought us to this point & let go of the things that do not serve us. So to me all styles of yoga can be restorative, as they can all help us to find awareness but some are more than others. If you’ve ever attended one of my classes, you know I like my props. I find they can help make a pose accessible to all & when we give ourselves enough support, we can finally relax fully & open up to a release from the stresses of life. This process helps us to unwind physically & emotionally, as we trust the supports we are given.

See the analogy of what we do in our practice & how that can be applicable to our lives? Take the time to restore yourself by doing your practice, even if it is just a few minutes. By giving to yourself, you recharge your own batteries so you have the energy to give to another. I’ve noted a few short articles to help you to explore a more restorative practice this holiday season. See the benefits, how to begin & some examples of yoga poses you can do. I have also added my adapted version of the Joint Freeing Series for some other simple things to do to keep you joints moving in the oh so cold weather.

Now there is no excuse why you can’t add a pose or two to your life so you can give yourself the gift of presence.
